Fine Folder Class Slipjoint Folder Class

In this class we build a LinerLock folder using basic tools that are found in almost all knife shops. Starting from scratch we layout the pattern using titanium for liners, drill and ream associated holes using only carbide tooling. The blade material is selected, profiled and ground to shape, then heat treated and tempered to required specs. The folder is finished by installing bolsters and handles, and going through specific steps to avoid mistakes, and improve productivity. A materials and special tools list is provided upon completion, and the student takes home one completed LinerLock folder and the skills to build folders in their own shop. The class includes discussion on pricing and marketing your knives.

In this class we build a Slipjoint folder using basic tools that are found in almost all knife shops. Starting from scratch we layout the pattern using 410 SS for liners, drill and ream associated holes. The bolsters are either spot welded to the liners, or milled from a solid piece of 416 SS barstock. The blade and spring material is selected, profiled and ground to shape, then heat treated and tempered to required specs. The blade is ground hard to eliminate warping that can be caused during heat treat, then the nail nick is ground into the blade. Handles are installed and the folder is final assembled. Specific steps are gone through to avoid mistakes, and improve productivity. A materials and special tools list is provided upon completion, and the student takes home one completed Slipjoint folder and the skills to build folders in their own shop. The class includes discussion on pricing and marketing your knives. Call me direct to schedule my Slipjoint Folder Class; I'll work with you to accommodate your schedule.
