| Welcome to Stout Handmade Knives! | |||
I am Johnny Stout and I'd like to thank you for your interest in STOUT HANDMADE KNIVES. I'm a member of the American Bladesmith Society and founding member and past President of the Texas Knifemakers and Collectors Association. My MotivationAfter almost a lifetime of being a knife lover and user, both as a sportsman and novice repairman, I began making knives in 1983, and became a full-time maker in 1992. This site is intended to show the versatility and quality of my work, and is not inclusive of all models that I offer. The knives shown in the Knife Gallery are but a few of my standard designs and most are available in right or left handed models. My TechniqueUsing ancient, as well as state of the art materials, I offer fixed blade designs, as well as many folding knives with various locking mechanisms, to include various custom knives, switchblade knives, and my specialty, Gents' folding knives. Each knife is constructed by me, and made from a variety of USA made steels: carbon, stainless, and my own pattern welded damascus, as well as several other maker's specialty damascus. My blades are either forged or ground from raw bar stock using the stock removal method. Business PoliciesCustomer designs are accepted on a commission basis. I'll work with you to make it to your specifications, with a required 20% deposit. As a convenience to my clients, I offer a lay-away plan to purchase any knife in stock, and several major credit cards are also welcome. I am also now using PayPal as a secure way to electonically transfer money via email, a 3% Paypal is added to price. To order, you can either call, E-mail, call, or U.S. mail me with the model that you want. If it is not in inventory, a deposit will be taken and I will give you a tentative date of shipment. So that you may have an opportunity to purchase a knife from me without having to wait, I set aside time to make pieces that will be offered directly via my web site, that will be available for immediate delivery, and will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
